Biblioteket i Parken provides a unique meeting place for knowledge and innovation, and a new benchmark for tomorrow’s sustainable and future-proof library.
The roof structure of the extension to the existing library has the geometry of a ‘hyperbolic paraboloid’ and the walk through the library is a dynamic sequence between light and dark, intimate places and magnificent views. The window sections go from floor to ceiling and provide ground-level contact with the park.
A load-bearing frame consisting of as much wood as possible is proposed, which includes glulam beams, ridge joist slabs and KL-wood. The glullam pillars stand in a grid (8.1 x 8.1m) which allows flexible room division and rational parking in the floor below.
The proposed walkways over the roof form natural extensions of the existing walking paths through the park.
