The Green Park is a sustainable neighborhood in Tartu that aims to reduce the ecological footprint through timber constructed buildings, solar energy production, and services that promote an environmentally responsible behavior. It has the potential to become a pilot area that could contribute and compliment these visions of sustainable urban development, setting an example locally and nationally.
It lies in the northern part of Tartu, just where the city begins, and borders one of the city’s main university areas. The development of The Green Park into an integrated urban area takes its point of departure out of three important routes: the highway leading from Tallinn into Tartu, the railway and the upcoming train stop from between Tallinn and Tartu.
